This month I’m going to share my real-life packing experiences with you all as I pack the dolls for the journey to the new house.
Naomi helped me with the first job, removing all the costume dolls from the very top shelf. She climbed up my stepladder with a bucket which she filled with dolls and passed to me to put on a flat surface before moving on to the next section. I think she did about four trips up the ladder to get them all. After that, I asked her to lift the wooden shelf off and pass it to me. I will be taking the shelves and brackets with me in case we need to use them at the new house.
First Gather Your Supplies
My friend Gillian sent me two huge packages of bubble wrap that she had spotted on a Facebook giveaway site and this will be used for wrapping the dolls for transport. I had packing boxes already donated by friends and with a roll of packaging tape, scissors and a marker pen. Naomi brought me some extra tape, more bubble wrap, packing beans and shredded paper as well as two packages of “Fragile” stickers. I was ready to go.
Nesting
I decided to pack up the costume dolls first to get them out of the way. One or two fragile ones I put aside to go in a special box. I wrapped each doll in bubble wrap, sometimes two together but I didn’t tape the wrap. I had read of a packing technique known as nesting and this is what I did with a lot of the smallest items. The smallest dolls I packed into small boxes which then went into the larger box. Larger dolls were then added on top and the top of the box had a layer of air fill cushioning as well. I was able to fit a few larger vinyl dolls into the box as well.
I packed the little accessories that usually sit in the Tammy House into drawers in the wooden cabinet before wrapping the cabinet in bubble wrap and placing it in a box with the rest of the furniture which then went into the packing crate.
Packing
Box 2 I packed with the vintage Barbies. I decided not to wrap every individual doll because I don’t have enough bubble wrap. Instead, I layered air-fill cushioning between each row of dolls. I did use a heck of a lot of bubble wrap but I felt better safe than sorry. We will, of course, save it and reuse it when Naomi moves her things and then it will probably be offered to someone else who needs it.

Wrapping
Here are some photos I took while I was wrapping the more fragile dolls. First I wrapped their heads in bubble wrap. I also wrapped the hands and legs on some of them. In some cases, I used tissue paper instead of bubble wrap. After that, I wrapped the whole doll.
Another thing you can do is to use things like pillows, cushions and towels to pad the dolls. I did this in my last move as I didn’t have so much bubble wrap (or so many dolls) Some of the big girls have been packed in old suitcases and I wrapped them in towels, a good way to pack two things at once. After placing the dolls I filled the gaps with packing beans to protect them if they move around.
Using towels and other kinds of soft material is a good way to wap dolls too.
Finally after packing everything I could I removed the shelves to take with me. A friend came over to help me with a couple of stubborn screws. It has been a massive exercise and took much longer than I expected so my final advice is to do what Naomi suggested to me and pack the dolls first along with other fragile and precious items. Give yourself plenty of time to get it done and take breaks when you need to.
I will do a post on setting up the new doll room but before we do that I think we are going to paint it and organise our storage units first so it may not happen until after Christmas. Naomi will be bringing her other dolls and teddies and we hope to have them all together in a big downstairs bedroom.

After three long weeks of struggling, and often redoing stuff, my Lawrence and Baron are finally finished. Yay! So down to the studio they went for some photos....
I had first made Baron a black cloak, which just fit out of the last piece of black crinkle gauze and the last bit of trim. But it turned out way too long, even though I had measured carefully. It also looked too much like Lawrence's (except for his fur). So I tried some other colours, and this dull blue (it's actually a lot duller than in the photos) was the only one that looked good with his outfit. So I made it up, and it also ended up too long. So I cut the bottoms off of both cloaks and hand-hemmed them a second time - a whole two metres along the bottoms of each.
Baron can actually hold his sword since it's lightweight aluminum,
made by Vaughan Tyrer many years ago...
Lawrence can't hold his sword. It's forged from a steel nail by Mason Leggee, and is way too heavy. You'd think with Lawrence having the 'Muscle' body, he'd be stronger, but no, apparently not.
So now that they are both finished, I can start to focus on new stuff, and hopefully some Christmas things, before continuing with the rest of their Fantasy group, as well as the two Raccoon ladies, some time in the new year. Assuming I'm not tempted to continue sooner......

I looked online everywhere but no one had the Ellowyne Rose wig in stock in any colour. One of my Naraes has an auburn one, but it was a bigger size. I tried it on for looks, and decided that was definitely the colour for Rosie. So I stole it off Narae, made it smaller, gave it to Rosie, and gave Narae her original mohair wig back.
While I was at it, I also switched out Rosie's eyes to a light blue.....
...I like how this wig helps soften her angular features.....
I realize that the glow from the Christmas lights makes her hair look even redder than it really is, but I love this colour on her. So she will stay a redhead.
Now all she needs is an outfit. I'm thinking something 'Warrior Princess' with leather and chainmail, and of course at some point something more 'feminine'. However Monika was next in line to get a costume, and my wrist really needs a rest from the leather and chainmail. I'll see how things go, and what inspiration hits. But first I need to make some elf hats for the grandkids.

Peach, who was an only child, had no idea what 'babysitting' actually meant. She had imagined a pleasant afternoon playing with a happy, bouncing baby, and was getting rather fed up with just standing around while Baby Sena slept....
Lisa was experienced, so was quietly reading her book....

Being rather anxious to play with the baby, Peach decided to take matters into her own hands.....

Hello everyone, Ildi here for sharing this happy card using the wonderfulGingerbread House Set .
This time I used the gingerbread girl and boy to create a large central panel with masking technique. I only used these four Copic markers to color the browns: E15, E35, E31, E11.
For the background I inked up a a piece of white cardstock with blue and pink Distress Oxide Inks and splattered white acrylic paint all over it before I stamped my sentiment.

I decided to play around with some different wigs on Rosie. I do like her as a blonde, but the Monique wigs are way too bouffant, especially with her fine features. They make her look like a 'Barbie'. So I thought just for fun to try on Lawrence's short wig, which was just lying in my workspace, and I thought it looked rather cute - like a modern business woman.....
I think the short style really suits her, but it's not the look I was going for.....
So I tried Baron's wig on her....
Interesting, but still not the look I was going for. Way too 'modern'.....
Then I tried Bianca's Ellowyne Rose wig on her....
I like this style best for what I had in mind for her, but not in brown. I could order one in blonde, but I think it would be faster (and less expensive) to just make her a wig myself. Sigh.
