Thank you for all your kind compliments on my 4 doll “dolly stand.” I really needed to do something fun yesterday and it really helped me get back to business today.
Want to see what else happened in my sewing room? I really like it!
That space up above the built in bookshelves was kind of a waste of space unless I put big tubs up there, and that wasn’t what I wanted. They were always a pain to get into and being so large, they were very heavy. I wanted something different. I found a picture of what it looked like most of the time… Yarn and fibers for making Skinny Scarves were stored in big tubs.
I decided to make another shelf board and divide the space in half. I found a board in the garage along with some skinny pieces of wood to use on the sides. My hubby cut the big board and I cut the 3 side pieces.
After I primed and painted them, I marked where I wanted them to go. My hubby screwed the narrow pieces up and I placed the board across, giving me plenty more shelf space.
If I ever need to store something taller up there, since the big board is just laying across, I just have to remove it. Perfect!!
I finished painting my baskets and they fit wonderfully up there. I had them in mind for up there from the time I bought them.
I like how they look uniform and neat! Now they can easily be retrieved because each one is fairly lightweight.
I have little girls and ladies patterns in one. Snap tape for babies wear, fingertip towels, zippy looms for scarves, my Cropodile for making eyelets, some heart shaped tins I use occasionally and a few other things filling up 4 of the 6 baskets.
I also worked on finding a place for a few more containers and baskets and boxes. This time around, I wanted to place things so I can get to everything very easily.
On the bottom, starting on the left, I have my scraps of white fabric and Christmas fabrics in the 2 white boxes. My glue gun is on top of the boxes.
I put my little girls tights and socks used to make doll thigh highs in a clear zippered tote. In the decorative gold box on the bottom I have my fabric and acrylic paints, and in the basket, I have those zip lock bags of my bigger sized scraps sorted by color.
My Saucy Walker doll head is on the shelf “keeping an eye” on things. :o)
Actually, I just needed a safe place to keep the head for now.
Well, that’s what I’ve been up to!
Hope you have a great 4th of July weekend!
See you Monday,
Blessings, Jeanne
