Dolly by Le Petit Tom, created by talented Dutch clothing designer Anne-Marie van Dijk is a feminine fashion line of ballet tutus, petticoats, dresses – and now superb Angela dolls! When Dolly by Le Petit Tom emailed us with stunning brand images of their BJD Angela Dolls we were so excited! We’ve been on a hunt for fabulous European fashion dolls for years, and this brand from the Netherlands has produced the most eye-catching dolls dressed in stylish, colourful, playful, even theatrical clothing, so we simply had to have them!
Angela dolls are stylish, with an attitude of independence, modernity, confidence, and empowerment: these are dolls that are thoroughly up to date, and brimming with personality.
Similarities between Angela Dolls and well known Blythe Dolls
Made in the Blythe doll style – actually they are made in the same factory as these dolls – Angela dolls also have oversized heads and large eyes that change colour with the pull of a string. Angela dolls have four colours of eye, long hair for styling and extra hands to swap with the original hands.
If you are wondering who Blythe is, here’s a bit of background:
Blythe dolls were created in 1972 and only sold for one year in the USA by toy company Kenner as they didn’t prove popular. However, in 2001 Japanese company Takara, was given a license to produce them by new owner Hasbro, and their popularity soared and they continue to be made today.
Blythe dolls are sought by adults who customise them, create clothing and photograph their dolls to share on the internet. Similarly Angela dolls are already being snapped up by groups of enthusiasts as Angela is equally collectible and customisable. They are in limited supply, therefore we’re lucky to have this stock and to have been hand-picked to retail them.
A key difference between Angela Dolls and Blythe Dolls is the clothing
As well as their unique cute face and body, Angela dolls are dressed exactly like children in a wholly organic and credible way. Dolly by Le Petit Tom clothing is primarily made for children, it just so happens that the brand thoughtfully extended their DOLLY clothing brand to include – dolls! These dolls appeal to parents looking to buy a sweet gift for a child; children who love cute big-eyed fun fashion dolls; and also adult doll buyers who love dolls to represent the vivaciousness and innocence of children.
Anne-Marie takes her inspiration for clothing for children and Angela Dolls from style icons, classic films, ballet, fashion and not least, her five children.
Clearly there’s oodles of artistic direction behind the Angela doll brand.
Dolly by Le Petit Tom Angela Doll fashion, made foremost with children in mind
In the 2019 many of the dresses are embellished with crystals and gemstones loved by Anne-Marie for their colour, energy and spiritual quality.
We are rather in love with Angela’s body, with its 19 joints for lots of playful expression.
There are 15 hair colours to choose from with each doll coming wearing DOLLY’s popular pettiskirt, top and famous tutu bloomer. A useful hairbrush is included for lots of styling that gorgeous hair. The packaging is a clear plastic pouch with Angela logo in black and a long over the shoulder strap, so useful for storage and carrying Angela outdoors for those photo shoots!
Here’s a selection of the fifteen dolls.
