Roblox Corporation, the largest user-generated platform for play, is on track to pay out $30 million to its community of independent developers this year.
The platform, now boasting more than 56 million monthly players worldwide, has seen developer earnings increase ten-fold over the past three years.
With two developers poised to earn more than $2 million in 2017, it signifies a significant acceleration in developer payouts over the past three years, which amounted to $2.5 million in 2015 and $5.5 million in 2016.
The rise in payouts is a direct result of Roblox’s rapid growth in monthly active players combined with a recent increase in payouts the company makes available to its user-generated community.
Roblox’s top games are now making over £100,000 a month.
“Roblox is an immersive gaming and social platform that entertains more than 56 million players from across the globe,” said David Baszucki, CEO and co-founder of Roblox.
“Even more so though, it provides players of all ages a real ability to learn vital coding and programming skills that can lead to game development on the Roblox platform and with our size and scale, serious potential earnings.
“We have accelerated rapidly, our payouts to developers which reflects the ability of our developer community. We are proud of everybody who continues to imagine and develop on our platform to create these immersive social experiences and there’s no better time to celebrate them than at our Roblox Developers Conference.”
The Roblox Developers Conference brings together hundreds of dedicated Roblox creators from all over the country – even the world – and offers a jam-packed weekend of panels, brainstorms and in-depth discussions.
Roblox made its debut in the consumer products space last year with the launch of a new toy line from Jazwares.
