I noticed something after having taken the photos of Rosie and Miho on the patio table. In the first set of photos that I took, the urn on the pillar in the background appeared perfectly in scale....
I was shooting close to Rosie, and the closer I am to her, the more in scale the background becomes. Problem is, I need to shoot using a wide angle, which distorts the sides of the photo and makes the outer edges flare outward, and often makes the pillar look like it's leaning to the right.
So the next day I tried to rectify that wide-angle distortion by taking photos further back, but then the background started to get a lot bigger, including that urn in the background.
This was the first time I'd tried taking my photos further back to avoid the warping from the wide angle, but that urn ended up looking way too big. It's true that it might be possible for an urn to be that big in real life, but the flowers are also huge. The larger scale background makes Miho look more like a doll instead of a real person in a garden. So next time it's back to taking photos closer up to my subject, and having to deal with leaning pillars again.
