I thought I’d share some details of the Spencer jacket I’m making to go over Elizabeth’s Regency gown. I hope you’ll love it as much as I do. I still have a bit more to finish before the big reveal, but I’ll show you what it looks like so far.
The pattern I used for the bones of this jacket is from Keepers Dolly Duds. I did a few modifications…
I made the pointed collar a little smaller than the pattern and I left off the longer skirt of the jacket and made it stop at the waist. When I get the back finished, I’ll show you something else I changed…
I used a thin red satin fabric for the lining. At first I was going to leave it unlined but there were too many seams and it didn’t look as nice as I wanted.
I hope you can tell what I was doing with the lining around the armholes… the sleeves aren’t lined…the lining is turned under and whip stitched to the armhole area.
Here is Elizabeth modeling it…she likes it!!
A little more and I’ll be done!!
